SVEN SOUKUP
Cinematographer | Filmmaker | Colorist
Sven Soukup, based out of Vancouver BC, began his love for filmmaking in his basement —staging his own Michael Bay style action scenes with a webcam, some old-school FX software, and a bit of reckless enthusiasm. Creating CG bullet hits and throwing himself across the room for the perfect shot was just the beginning of a lifelong obsession with storytelling through visuals.
In 2006, he stepped onto a professional set as a background actor in Decoys 2, which fueled his passion for acting, directing, and cinematography.
Stepping through the roles of Stand In, Production Assistant, and many others he also spun into the indie world exploring every aspect of filmmaking, earning several awards, including “Rising Star” at the Canada International Film Festival and Las Vegas’s Film Festival for best Short Film.
In 2017, Sven joined the International Cinematographers Guild as a 2nd Assistant Camera, working alongside renowned cinematographers such as Shane Hurlbut ASC, Mark Irwin ASC/CSC, and Nelson & Graham Talbot CSC.
Sven has since been refining his craft through cinematography in 2024, and ongoing colorist training in 2025.
His work spans narrative, commercial, and music videos, including Karan Aujla’s Idk How (50M+ Youtube views), Sifar Safar (45M+ views), and Amrinder Gill’s That Girl (35M+ views). Combining technical expertise with a strong artistic vision, Sven approaches every project with a lifelong passion and goal to creating visuals that don’t just look great but leave a lasting impact.
